In 1986, I ended a twenty year career as an independent yacht designer and began doing business as Palmtree Software. There were no computers available to assist in the complicated engineering task of determining mass, flotation, and structural data, not to mention optomizing the data for sailing performance and sailing rules consideration. Consequently, I taught myself to program computers, beginning in 1979 on a Tandy Model One. Over the years, the platforms became more powerful and versatile, and my programming ability grew. When I quit the business in 1989, I could make design descisions in a few hours that used to take days.
I've included some detail about some of my work in another life in case you want to check out some of my yachts and other work.
Leaving my career on the sea behind me, I began a computer consulting company offering my expertise in office automation. Many years later, the business is sailing along like a well designed and constructed vessel.
Color is one of the primary joys of my life. I try to carry a camera when I travel. A few of my favorite shots are included in my Gallery. Enjoy.
